Laurent Schares, Data Center Optical Networking, IBM
Laurent Schares is a Senior Scientist at IBM Research in Yorktown Heights, NY, USA. He has 25 years of experience in optical communications and networking. At IBM, his research focuses on advanced networking for Cloud data centers and AI supercomputers. He has led or contributed to numerous programs on optical technologies in computing networks, for which he has received an IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement and multiple Research Division awards. Laurent has authored around 150 publications, holds 20 patents. He is a frequent invited speaker and has widely served in the community. He is a senior member of IEEE and Optica, and he holds PhD degree in physics from ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
