James Reilly, Consultant, Reilly Associates
Jim is an independent consultant with a focus on bringing shared understandings among the power system engineering and data center communities. He has extensive experience adopting advanced microgrid concepts and energy management systems to applications that provide energy security, reliability and resilience to the power industry. He is the co-author of many studies on microgrid control systems and an officer of the IEEE Std 2030.7 for microgrid controls. Clients include research entities in the US, Europe and Japan, with on-going support for the US DOE Office of Electricity's microgrid program over the past twelve years. He is a co-author of the Advanced Microgrid report which set the path forward for grid interaction of microgrids, campus microgrids, and multiple scoping studies on interconnection and operational issues with respect to the management of multiple resources – CHP, Storage, and SMR and Flexible Loads in the power mix for AI/Datacenters. He is a senior member of the IEEE Power Engineering Society, and a member of the Transmission and Distribution Committee. He is the recipient of the IEEE SA Emerging Technology Award for 2024.
