Al earned a BS in Economics from the University of Delaware and an MBA at Harvard Business School, then began his career managing key brands at Frito-Lay, helping to triple the company’s sales in five years. Al has pursued his love of creating value through entrepreneurial ventures throughout his career, including real estate, international trade, packaging, and manufacturing, before turning to technology in 1997. Al founded Pinebreeze Technologies in 2000. Pinebreeze became a leading innovator in highly specialized data center solutions including mission critical Data Center Relocation, Audits and DCIM Implementation, and Smart Hands services. In 2020 he and his team became a part of Silverback Data Center Solutions, where their innovation, proprietary processes, vast experience, and culture of service continue to deliver superior results for the world’s leading enterprises in banking, healthcare, software, telecom and nearly every vertical. Al has been active in leading data center industry organizations including 7x24 Exchange, the Uptime Institute, and AFCOM. His passion for service, education, and creating win-win relationships has led him to become deeply involved with increasing the value of AFCOM. He is a long-time board member of the DFW Chapter, a member of the Content Advisory Committee for the annual Data Center World Conference, and a frequent Moderator, Panelist, and Presenter on topics including Data Center Migration, Colocation, Edge Technologies, Hybrid Strategy, High-Density Cooling and Sustainability. He particularly enjoys bringing together the leaders creating the next generation of technology, and sharing their visions. In addition, he is working to develop his Chapter’s inaugural Data Center Internship Program in response to the shortage of new talent entering the industry. Al and his wife reside in Dallas Fort-Worth, where they are active in their church. Their daughter is a Junior at the University of Mississippi.
