He has over fourty years of IT experience, working for a variety of consultancy and end-user companies with experience in the defence, utilities, automotive, retail, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industries. He works in the Cloud and Data Centre practice and is recognised as Omdia’s expert on Cloud, Virtualisation, and Management. He also has experience of Data Centre technologies, Quantum Computing, IT Service Management, and covers IT Strategy and Policy. He joined Ovum in January 2006 which was merged with IHSM in 2020 to form Omdia, he has worked on many major report projects recently including vendor comparison reports on cloud computing, backup and data protection, cloud management, AIOps, hyperconverged infrastructure and many mores. He has also written thought leadership reports on; container management platforms, hybrid- and multi-cloud management, data protection for the cloud, AIOPs maturity model, and IT Strategy and Architecture. His most recent reports are a series of five on the topic of edge computing. In addition to the reports, he has produced white papers and carried out primary research for leading global organisations. He has delivered keynotes speeches and webinars. He has also presented at external trade events all over the world on a wide range of topics. He has significant experience of supply chain, transportation, manufacturing, data warehousing, and financial systems. He has worked on a number of major projects including preparing the business case to replace an organisation’s manufacturing and supply chain systems, appointed the supply chain and manufacturing lead IT analyst for a proposed UK£2.9 billion company merger, IT architect of a major RFID project, and IT project manager for a major new financial reporting and business change initiative. He has a BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, an international MBA, and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering Technology (MIET) holding the registered status of a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
