Imran Latif is an engineering executive based in New York, serving as the Chief Operations Officer – Data Center Infrastructure at the US Department of Energy’s Office of Science at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He leads infrastructure operations for high-performance computing (HPC) centers supporting global research collaborations in physics, life sciences, quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing (HPC).
With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Latif has successfully delivered large-scale engineering, construction, and sustainability projects for major companies including IBM, Microsoft, Google, and others. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from The City College of New York and is a licensed professional engineer in New York and Texas.
Mr. Latif is a world known sustainability thought leader, he often speaks at global conferences such as OCP, DCD, BICSI, and Super Computing. He mentors students through US Federal Government internship programs, collaborates on energy-efficient computing research with top tech and academia. His current research focuses on energy optimization and decarbonization of hyper scale data centers. He leads the teams of global experts in developing AI/ML-based technologies to automate sustainability processes. As a subject matter expert, he specializes in direct-to-chip and immersion cooling technologies for data centers.
