The pandemic stalled progress on an important battle, which is closing the gender gap when it comes to technology-related careers. During the pandemic, women took on greater responsibilities at home - with virtual learning and more active participation from them. The weight often fell on the already lower-paid women of the household stalling any chances of career advancement. Additionally, the community of women to bridge this gap took a break as in-person networking and professional development was put on hold due to limited travel and health and safety precautions.
This workshop will enable women to kickstart this effort again. I will teach attendees how to build effective networks, reinvest in their personal and professional development and enable them to understand their purpose and how it positively impacts the efforts to bridge the gender gap in the technology world.
The Women in Data Centers reception will take place at the end of this workshop – from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Level 1 Rotunda Foyer. This will be a great opportunity for workshop attendees to network and meet other Data Center World attendees. This reception is open to All Access, Standard, and Speaker pass holders.
Interactive discussions and best practices will focus on the following:
• How to build effective networks that have a long-term impact
• Why personal branding is important
• What it means to present your holistic self
• Understand challenges you face when cultivating your own network and how to address these challenges
• Leverage your expertise, experience, and personality to start promoting yourself
• Networking tips
