We rely on mission critical facilities to provide ultimate reliability in electrical and cooling infrastructure and be uninterrupted in the delivery. Reviews and analysis of these systems shouldn’t be limited to the initial process of standard commissioning. This is the case for continuous commissioning in the data center environment. Why “continuous”? The infrastructure supply systems of the data center should, at regular repeating intervals, be involved in an ongoing commissioning process. This may look different for each unique operator based on the changes occurring within their facility. Continuous commission does not replace the well-established practice of programmed system maintenance. The continuous commissioning process complements the preventative maintenance program ensuring that the systems also operate at their most efficient state of delivery. It is this balance between efficiency and redundancy that must be studied and prioritized by the data center management team.
