Everyone wants to know how we can we build faster without sacrificing quality or increasing risk. With recent advancements in standalone virtual reality, it's easier than ever to engage cross functional data center stakeholders early in the design and construction process. Teams no longer have to wait until something is built to start surfacing issues that could slow down construction or impact daily operations.
Virtual collaboration has saved Meta hyperscale data centers substantial time and money by identifying issues before construction and optimizing for a safer, more efficient, and sustainable final data center build. Experts from Meta, Mortenson, and Resolve will share a process — from planning through resolution — that uses VR to reduce risk of new projects.
We will share critical issues discovered in VR and the positive impacts of their resolutions. Learn how operators can flag concerns virtually when they're easier to fix. We'll discuss the importance of visibility into models prior to construction. We will touch on how the process enhances model quality and lays the groundwork for continued success post-turnover. Other topics include: model expectations (design & trade), feedback alignment, model organization, schedule impacts, and trade modeling contracts.
Takeaway
- Learn to leverage VR with cross functional teams, from operations to security, during coordination to eliminate late-stage rework and changes.
- Plan the use of VR on a project by setting expectations and what is required to develop a model that can be used in VR.
- Understand the importance and value of providing cross functional teams visibility and transparency to building models using VR.
- Learn about the owner-driven uses of VR after construction is complete from new hire training to security reviews.
