Always-on-power is the future of power for mission-critical facilities, including data centers. Through a mission-critical micro-grid utilizing a bi-directional Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to manage hybrid energy sources and supported by a UPS, this always-on power solution will enable critical facilities to have an independent power source. This solution will facilitate normal operations, support grid emergency events, and contribute to sustainability initiatives. The system adds the necessary resilience and supports renewable energy onsite options, including solar, fuel cells, and onsite generation. Storage makes renewable energy more reliable and allows for grid interaction and the monetization of all energy assets. This concept is proving out in pilots in EMEA and the US. Vertiv team is piloting a hybrid system composed of a hydrogen fuel cell, a Vertiv UPS with grid interactive capabilities, and a BESS controller. Learn about the steps you can take now for energy independence in the future.

Takeaway

  • Learn the benefits of the adopting a hybrid power system, and the types of applications that would benefit from the system.
  • Learn about the operation of on-site hybrid power systems utilizing Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and the required critical components.
