Microgrids can support a more flexible, efficient, resilient and sustainable smart electric grid. Microgrids are localized grids incorporating multiple distributed energy resources, like energy generators and storage systems, including renewable energy (solar, wind). They can operate intelligently and autonomously from the electric grid, contributing to the grid resiliency, and mitigating the impact of power failures for data centers. Nowadays different countries are also talking about microgrid tax credits. This panel will explore the current state of the technology, challenges, and future of microgrids.
Takeaway
- The need to consider new technologies to stay competitive in the data center industry
- Better understanding of the adoption of microgrids for data centers
- Challenges to deploy microgrids for data centers
