Developing an ESG program is a journey, so it’s appropriate to approach this effort in steps. Through each step on the journey, an ESG program will become more robust, building on the foundation and lessons learned from previous activities. The roadmap should include where data center operators stand in terms of completion of the necessary activities, and recommendations on what needs to be done to consider the expected outcomes of each step achieved.
Building out an ESG roadmap, there are 7 main steps to explore and make sure data center operators are getting closer to their sustainability goals:
- Governance Structure and ESG Guiding Principles
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Materiality Assessment and Identification of Focus Areas
- Baseline Assessment of ESG Focus Areas
- Action Identification and Goal Setting
- Monitor Performance
- ESG Reporting and Disclosure
Bluebird will further discuss the 7 main components to consider when building out an ESG roadmap and getting closer to the data center operator's sustainability goals.
