This session will discuss how the process of data center design and construction can be advanced to meet the current demand for critical facilities. The session will begin with an overview of the current data center design and construction delivery model including off-site manufacturing of OFCI equipment, uses of pre-engineered and precast structures, overall site planning and current uses of VDC, AR, VR, 3D, 4D and 5D BIM. Following this overview, the session will discuss issues and challenges with the current construction delivery model and present a new project delivery model. This new delivery model, that is more advanced than IPD, implements an advanced team structure with significant changes to roles are responsibilities required to drastically improve the data center design and construction process.
