Adding liquid cooled IT equipment (ITE) is becoming a lifecycle requirement for many data centers, driven by needs to improve efficiency and sustainability and to support increasing challenges in high density cooling.

Proper planning can enable successful deployment of liquid cooled ITE as needed, deferring CAPEX and reducing impact on operations, cost, and schedule.

In this workshop, participants will review the progress of Open Compute Project’s Advanced Cooling Facilities workstream and actively participate in and contribute to the creation of industry-defining guidance to be released in two upcoming whitepapers:

- Data Center Liquid Distribution Guidance & Reference Designs

- Guidelines for Connection of Liquid Cooled ITE to Data Center Facility Systems

Takeaways from this hands-on workshop include awareness of global trends and Open Compute Project workstreams, including:

- Guidelines for Connections of Liquid Cooled ITE

- Standardization of Connections (DoorHX, ColdPlate, Immersion)

- Connection Methods & Trade-offs

- Data Center Liquid Distribution Guidance & Reference Designs

- Planning FWS Pipe Connections and Pipe Route Planning using Reference Designs and BIM Content

- Service Level Agreement (SLA) Considerations

- Risk & Reliability Considerations- Myth Vs Reality

- Beyond Design – role of SOPs/MOPs & EOPs and commissioning
