A case study on how a Chicagoland data center provider built a unique consortium of city and state governments, private investors, carriers, and data center service providers to develop a high-speed network from Ohio to Illinois. The new network is operational and will serve as the backbone of connectivity for local universities, underserved communities, businesses, and more.
Through close collaboration with numerous stakeholders, the Digital Crossroad project in Hammond, IN was able to convert a former coal-fired power plant into a 21st-centry green data center. These partnerships also led to the passing of one of the most competitive data center tax incentives in the nation – a bill that took nearly 13 years to implement.
Speaker Ryan Lafler, a network solutions architect with Digital Crossroad, plans to elaborate on ways to effectively bring relevant stakeholders to the table for future data industry projects. He will be discussing strategies to increase participation, generate interest, and connect with the right groups that can help a project turn from an idea into an economic development reality.
