Customers want a hybrid multi-cloud world. Private clouds will co-exist with public clouds, and they will increasingly be located in colocation data centers. For colocation and hosting providers, this is both a great opportunity and a challenge. Those who figure out how to move beyond the basics of space, power and third-party connectivity have a chance to increase their competitiveness and profitability. Step one in moving up the value chain is to build SDN-enabled cloud interconnect fabrics that enable faster, more flexible and more dynamic connections between private clouds, public clouds, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and other providers. That same fabric can then become the basis for richer service offerings including disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) and hosted virtual private cloud services. This session will outline the cloud interconnection opportunity, examine cloud interconnect technology options and explore value-added private cloud service opportunities.
